Life stuff

  • Wee bit poetry

    I attended school in Kolkata, India. Through high school, I read a lot of poems, most of which were a part of the curriculum. There were different kinds of poems, written by poets from different countries and genre.

    I read poetry, a lot, and for fun :). The following is a list of excerpts from a few of my favourite poems.

    • And the sunlight clasps the earth,
      And the moonbeams kiss the sea
      What is all this sweet work worth
      If thou kiss not me?

      Love's Philosophy, Percy Bysshe Shelley

    • And lose, and start again at your beginnings
      And never breathe a word about your loss;
      If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
      To serve your turn long after they are gone,
      And so hold on when there is nothing in you
      Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!

      If, Rudyard Kipling

    • For oft, when on my couch I lie
      In vacant or in pensive mood,
      They flash upon that inward eye
      Which is the bliss of solitude;
      And then my heart with pleasure fills,
      And dances with the daffodils.

      Daffodils - William Wordsworth

    • All of the sights of the hill and the plain
      Fly as thick as driving rain;
      And ever again, in the wink of an eye,
      Painted stations whistle by.

      From a Railway Carriage, Robert Louis Stevenson
